About Me

Life as a coffee lover in Barcelona is a daily celebration of both the city's rich coffee culture and its vibrant social scene, with endless opportunities to savor exquisite brews while connecting with friends and fellow enthusiasts in charming cafés and sunny plazas.

A few questions to get to know me

What is your first memory of coffee?

My father and grandmother both used to drink coffee in the morning and afternoon, my grandmother decaffeinated and my father with a lot of sugar and powdered milk. That was too bitter for me, and I didn’t like it.

When I lived in a shared flat with my best friend during my school years, her father brought us a portafilter machine one day and after trying it out for the first time, I suddenly found it very tasty and really started to enjoy drinking coffee. However, I only bought the cheapest powder and didn’t know anything about specialty coffee.

When I went to Barcelona for the first time, I visited a friend here and on my last day we went to a coffee shop nearby. I’d never been to a coffee shop that served specialty coffee before and didn’t even know what a Latte, Flat White or Cortado was. I took the Flat White and was blown away by the atmosphere, the baristas, the latte art on my coffee and the incredibly good taste. We only took the coffee to go, but came back a few minutes later to buy a second one. That’s when I tried Matcha for the first time and was also very impressed.

I still often think about this coffee today, because this is where my love to coffee and my enthusiasm for coffee shops in Barcelona began.

What kind of experience do you want as a customer when you visit a coffee shop?

When I come for a coffee, I want to be able to smell the coffee, I want to sit at a comfortable table and watch the people outside, read a book or write in my notebook.

I want to drink a coffee that has an intense taste and that I immediately know this tastes like really good coffee.

Filter coffee or Espresso?

Espresso, I never really tried Filter Coffee because I am so in love with Espresso.

Milky or Black?

Black or with oat milk.

Do you ever take sugar with your coffee?

No, I like the that coffee is not sweet.

Sit in or take away?

At the weekend sit in to really enjoy the coffee but during the week I also like it for take away on the way to work or after work.

Cake or pastry with your coffee?

In the afternoon after lunch I like coffee with cake or pastry but usually without.

Warm or cold coffee?

I love warm coffee, even on hot summer days I drink my coffee without ice, and I rarely try cold creations.

What kind of coffee do you order most in a coffee shop?

I always take an Espresso or a Flat White. Depending on my mood, I also like to take a Matcha Latte or a Dirty Chai Latte. If there are specialties in a cafe, I like to try them like a Spirulina coffee or a Mushroom coffee.

What's your morning coffee routine like?

As soon as I wake up, I drink coffee at home, usually with oat milk, and read a book. 1-2 hours later I drink the second one, usually black. On weekends I also like to go to a coffee shop in the morning or grab a coffee to go in the afternoon.

What is it about Latte Art that it’s so compelling to you?

I’m currently learning Graphic Design and have always been a very visual person, I like to paint and am very creative, that’s why I was very fascinated by latte art and as easy as it looks, but unfortunately it takes a lot of practice until you can create a perfect pattern and I still have to practise a lot.

What kind of community do you want to build around your coffee blog?

I want to build a warm and inclusive community around my coffee blog, where coffee enthusiasts of all backgrounds and levels of experience can come together to share their passion for an aromatic coffee. It will be a space where people can exchange knowledge, discover new brewing methods and coffee destinations, and engage in conversations that encourage appreciation for the diverse world of coffee.

In the quiet embrace of my coffee cup, I find a moment of pure presence, relaxation, and mindfulness.
